.Run Trail Series_v001
Introduction to Trail Running
Join us on Saturday, November 2 at 8:45am for a trail run in North Vancouver as we begin our .Run Trail Series. This week, we will focus on beginning your trail running journey with a classic route through lush and flowy trails on the North Shore Mountains. This will be a no-drop run with several regroup spots and a designated sweeper, so it will be a great opportunity to dip your toes into trail running in a supportive environment. We will follow a 11.65k loop with 560m of elevation gain, which we expect to take around 1:45-2 hours.
For us at .Run, trail running is an alternative challenge and departure from the road, one that connects you deeper with nature and where your time and speed is less important. Trail running, especially in the diverse trail network of the North Shore, allows you to choose your own adventure where time doesn’t need to exist and you can feel connected with the trails and our beautiful Pacific Coastal Rainforest. From the Grouse Grind to the Squamish 50, trail running can take any form and length and we are excited to help you begin or continue your trail running journey.
Our .Run Trail Series will be led by Wes Ochitwa, a former Soigneur in Professional Cycling in Europe. For Wes, as much as he enjoyed time on his road bike, he was searching for an alternative challenge that connected him more to nature and that is how he discovered Trail Running. “I was searching for something that was community drive, or solo, given the day. My passion for trail running grew as my experiences became more rich. New trails, new challenges, and new distances allow for endless exploring and possibilities. Then, for those who crave it, there’s a mass community in trial events and races. Once you enter this world, it’s tough to not want more. This is where community in the discipline exceptionally shines. Often, it’s not even about “racing”, it’s about a shared experience.” Join Wes and .Run as our Trail series will highlight his favourite routes through the North Shore Mountains.
